LM GTE @ 6 Hours of Spa-francorchamps 2014

Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Porsche were the three manufacturers battling in LM GTE Pro for this second race of the third WEC season after Silverstone and in preparation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Gianmaria Bruni, the 2013 FIA World Endurance GT Drivers Champion, associated to Toni Vilander won the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps 2014 with their AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 after emerging in front from the start and running a faultless race, to give Ferrari its eleventh endurance win in the Ardennes.

In the last half hour, Patrick Pilet was battling with Rigon in P2, who came under strong pressure from the and . With a few minutes remaining, Pilet managed to force Rigon into making a mistake under braking for the downhill Rivage hairpin and got enough gap to get by and head for second place with Team Manthey Porsche #91, co-driven by Jorg Bermeister.

Davide Rogon and James Calado with the second AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia #71 ended 3rd.

Despite being the first team to double stint on the same tyres with its two Vantage V8s, Aston Martin didn’t reach the podium. Darren Turner, Bruno Senna and Stefan Mücke have long been fighting with Ferrari #71 and Porsche #91 for P2 but ended 4th with their #97 Aston Martin Racing Aston Martin Vantage GTE.
