FIA WEC LMGTE PRO Season 7, Race 7/8: 6 Hours of Spa 2019.
Spa-Francorchamps did go past its reputation of generating tough races for the 7th of the Super Season. It was even a chaotic race with alternate weather conditions dry, rain, snow, sleet, hail… the four seasons during the 6 hours!
The start was delayed due to the cold so that track temperature could reach the minimum 5°. Literally minutes later a storm blew in and before long the snow was falling again. And that’s pretty much how the race went as weather conditions cycled between clear and sunny to wet and windy as virtually every form of water fell from the skies.

WEC came back to its roots (WEC started in 2012 at Sebring) for the second time in 2019. It was the 6th race (out of 8) of the Super Season 2018-2019.
Lots of actions during the 1.000 Miles of Sebring 2019, as one count 19 different leaders during the race with 4 different manufacturers Porsche, Ford, BMW and Aston Martin.

In GTE Pro, AF Corse and Ferrari # 51 (Bruni-Vilander) logically won ahead of Porsche # 91 (Pilet-Bergmeister). Ferrari’s second F458 (Rigon-Calado ) came in 3rd.

The 90th anniversary running of the Le Mans 24 Hours LMGTE categories, featured entries from Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Corvette as well as Dodge Viper from ALMS. It was a tough race for the drivers with changing conditions, with a mix of dry and wet track along with cool temperatures and wind. Several incidents such as the tragic death of Allan Simonsen triggered several safety cars, some for 45’.
