Double and fifth victory in a row for the 10th entry of Toyota Gazoo Racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Both Chevrolet Corvette C8.R from Corvette Racing will start in front row of the LMGTE grid ahead of both Porsche and both Ferrari.

Double for Toyota and Chevrolet Corvette during the Hyperpole session. Brendon Hartley (Toyota GR010 Hybrid), Robin Frijns (WRT #31), Nick Tandy (Corvette #64) and Vincent Abril (AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo #61) set the fastest time in their respective categories.

The starting positions for the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans for 39 teams were decided in yesterday's qualifiers. The 6 fastest of each class will have a run-off in the Hyperpole session today. First Hyperpole for a 100% female crew as Rahel Frey qualified in P4 in LMGTE AM

Yesterday pm was dedicated to official photo of the pilots and cars as well as the pit-stop challenge where Toyota, TDS Racing, Porsche GT Team and TF sport teams won the Hypercar, LMP2, LMGTE Pro and LMGTE AM categories respectively.

Yesterday’s test day at Le Mans was rather intense with Toyota and Glickenhaus mixing in the top 4 as well as Corvette, Ferrari and Porsche in LMGTE PRO.

Three red flags with race stopped. Robin Frijns with his WRT #31 dominating the race in the 4th hour under heavy rain. The track was drying the last 2 hours enabling Toyota #7 and Alpine #36 take off to finish in that order.

Frist Pole for Glickenhaus Racing as Oliver Pla did set the fastest qualification time with Glickenhaus 007 LMH #708. Gianmaria Bruni with Porsche 911 RSR-19 #91 was faster LMGTE.

Both Toyota Gazoo Racing dominated the 3rd practice with Jose Maria Lopez fastest (#7) and Rio Harakawo second (#9).

Porsche #92 dominated both practices.

LMP2 cars did dominate the session with Robin Frijns setting the fastest lap driving Team WRT #31. Four LMP2 are in front of Romain Dumas with Glickenhaus 007 LMH setting the best Hypercar performance still 0,758” slower than #31!

Wednesday at Spa-Francorchamps is the day for scrutineering and drivers track walk. Alpine getting a 20kW power reduction. This should reduce the gap with Toyota’s GR010s and Glickenhaus 007 LMH. More news…

Audi’s first victory of the season as Oliver Jarvis, Lucas Di Grassi and Loïc Duval with #8 R18 were the only team with no problem during the 6 hours race.

Victory for 2015 champions Mark Webber-Timo Bernhard-Brendon Hartley with Porsche 919 Hybrid #1 after leading almost half (91/196) of the laps raced.  #8 Audi R18 of Loic Duval, Oliver Jarvis and Lucas di Grassi took second. 

Porsche driver Alessio Picariello completed his first triple crown attempt in endurance racing by driving the last 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 2021), 24 Hours of Daytona (January 2022) and 12 Hours of Sebring (March 2022).

Porsche and Corvette did battle each taking the lead (71 lpas for Corvette #64 and 112 laps for Porsche #92) but it was Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen who crossed the checkered flag first.

Alpine took its first Hypercar victory at the 1000 Miles of Sebring with Nicolas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere and Andre Negrao after a two red flag race.

Nicolas Lapierre with the #36 Alpine A480 did set the fastest lap of qualification sessions. With his teammates Matthieu Vaxivière and Andre Negrao, they’ll start from pole the 1.000 miles of Sebring 2022.

Glickenhaus #708 was fastest in FP1 with Romain Dumas and Matthieu Vaxivière did set best lap in FP2 with #36 Alpine A480. Porsche #92 was on top in both practices.
