LMP2 @ 24 Hours of Le Mans 2021 Qualifications & Hyperpole
The position on the grid has been set in 2 different sessions: the qualifications on Wednesday took P7 to the last in LMP2 class ; yesterday at 9PM the 6 first in qualification ran for the Hyperpole session.

Antonio Felix da Costa dominated both sessions and claimed the LMP2 class pole with the JOTA #38, which he shared with Roberto Gonzales and Anthony Davidson.

Will Stevens was 3rd with his #65 Panis Racing Oreca in front of the new World Champion in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Nyck De Vries driving his #26 G-Drive Aurus.
The two United Autosports competed the top 6 cars participating in the Hyperpole session, with #32 in the hands of N. Jamin, J. Aberdeen and M. Maldonado 5th and #23 piloted by P. di Resta, P. Lynn and W. Boyd 6th.

Surprisingly, the WEC points-leading #22 entry of Filipe Albuquerque, Phil Hanson and Fabio Scherer only managed the 12th quickest lap and was not qualified for the Hyperpole session. JOTA # 28 with S. Gelael, S. Vandoorne and T. Blomqvist qualified 7th.
The LMP2 class suffered a series of accidents that impacted the running of FP3 Wednesday evening after the qualification session. Merriman lost control of his #17 IDEC at the entrance of the Dunlop Curves and was followed a bit later by Juan Pablo Montoya with his DragonSpeed #21. More LMP2 had incidents like Patrick Piletβs #65 IDEC Sport Oreca, Marco Soensenβs #20 High Class Racing, #1 Richard Mille Racing Oreca of Sophia Floersch and #29 Racing Team Nederland Oreca.
