The suspense didn’t last long in Hypercar as Alpine Elf Matmut went in garage during 3 laps with gear box problem after 46’. Mike Conway, Jose Maria Lopez and Kamui Kobayashi clinched the first Hypercar World Endurance Drivers Championship.

Jose Maria Lopez, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway (#7 Toyota) win the 6 Hours race. Team WRT #31 driven by Charles Milesi, Robin Frijs and Ferdinand Habsburg win the LMP2 class, #29 Racing Team Nederland win LMP2 Pro/am class.

Difficult for Vincent Vosse, WRT Team principal, to fully enjoy the success of the #31 WRT Oreca co-driven by Robin Frijns, Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi winning the LMP2 class as Ye and co-drivers Louis Deletraz and Robert Kubica stopped on the final lap of the race with a broken throttle sensor after entering their last lap for a historic win.

FIA WEC LMGTE PRO Season 7, Race 7/8: 6 Hours of Spa 2019.
Spa-Francorchamps did go past its reputation of generating tough races for the 7th of the Super Season. It was even a chaotic race with alternate weather conditions dry, rain, snow, sleet, hail… the four seasons during the 6 hours!
The start was delayed due to the cold so that track temperature could reach the minimum 5°. Literally minutes later a storm blew in and before long the snow was falling again. And that’s pretty much how the race went as weather conditions cycled between clear and sunny to wet and windy as virtually every form of water fell from the skies.

WEC came back to its roots (WEC started in 2012 at Sebring) for the second time in 2019. It was the 6th race (out of 8) of the Super Season 2018-2019.
Lots of actions during the 1.000 Miles of Sebring 2019, as one count 19 different leaders during the race with 4 different manufacturers Porsche, Ford, BMW and Aston Martin.
