GT 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps 2007

The 60th edition of the 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps was run under varying weather conditions with heavy rain leading to length safety car periods several times. After the 6 hours lead of the #33 Jetalliance Aston Martin forced to retire 10 laps later, the lead was then shared by several cars all running on the same lap, including both Vitaphone Racing Maseratis, the Scuderia Playteam Maserati, the PK Carsport and Carsport Holland Corvettes.

Nearing the final hour of the race, the #1 Vitaphone Racing Maserati lost a lap lead over Carsport Holland caused by a mistake on a slippery track which led to the car becoming buried in the gravel. The Carsport Holland Corvette #5 took over the lead and took the victory with a margin of 1:17.756.

The #5 Carsport Holland Chevrolet Corvette C6.R driven by Mike Hezemans, Jean-Denis Deletraz, Marcel FΓ€ssler and Fabrizio Gollin was a strong leader at mid-race, lost the lead later to Maserati #1, but got it back at the entry of the last hour thanks to a mistake of the then leading driver.

Michael Bartels, Thomas Biagi, Eric van de Poele and Pedro Lamy with Vitaphone Racing Team #1 have been strong contenders to victory finishing second, just 1:17.756 behind the winning Corvette.

The #4 PK Carsport Chevrolet Corvette C5-R driven by Anthony Kumpen, Bert Longin, Kurt Mollekens and FrΓ©dΓ©ric Bouvy finished 3rd, 3 laps behind the 2 first cars.

Miguel Ramos, Christian Montanari, Matteo Bobbi and StΓ©phane Lemeret driving Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC12 #2, ended 4th in same lap as #4 Corvette.

The Italian team Andrea Bertolini, Andrea Picini, Alessadro Pier Guidi and Fabrizio de Simone running Scuderia Playteal Sarafree Maserati MC12 #11 ended 5th.

Ski champion Luc Alphand Aventures team, with Vincent Vosse, Gregory Franchi, Oliver Gavin and Olivier beretta driving Chevrolet Corvette C6.R finished 6th, 11 laps behind the winners.

The #16 JMB Racing Maserati MC12 with drivers Joe Macari, Ben Aucott, Marino Franchitti and Philipp Peter ended 7th, 17 laps behind the winners.

In GT2, the #97 BMS Scuderia Italia Porsche lead for nearly the entire event, ending with a four lap margin of victory. They finish 8th overall.

The Belgian Selleslagh Racing Team Corvette C5-R #18 driven by Marc Duez, Damien Coens, Maxime Soulet and Steve Van Bellingen ended 10th overal.

The #33 Jetalliance Aston Martin led the race during the first 6 hours, yet was forced to drop out 10 laps later.

Both Aston Martin Racing BMS #22 and 23 did not finish the race.

The #7 Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT from All-Inkl.com Racing driven by Christophe Bouchut, Stephan MΓΌcke and Frank Slipper quit the race after 83 Laps.
