Robin Frins sets the benchmark

Robin Frijns with #20 BMW M Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 did set the benchmark of the prologue during the last session (#4) setting the only lap under the 1:39” mark in 1:38.971, the best time across the two-day Prologue.

Robin Frijns: “I think it went alright. We had a test program before arriving to Qatar, we followed it pretty much and everything feel fine. Now we need to put the puzzle together and prepare ourselves for the race weekend which is a bit different. As we don’t drive at night during FP1 and FP2, today was our only opportunity so that was quite important for us. Now it’s all about discussions and see how we can improve the package we have for the race.”

Sebastien Bourdais second fastest

Sebastien Bourdais in #38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA Cadillac V-Series.R was within 0.145 of benchmark in 1:39.116.

Sebastien Bourdais: ““It was the first time we had the 38 with Jenson, Earl and I and our engineering group together. The very first time. Is it perfect? No. Do we have work to do? Yes. But with the Prologue we have plenty of time to learn and go through the test program to be ready for next week. All it all, I’d say it’s been a positive start.” Source: Cadillac Racing

Robert Kubica puts private Ferrari in third

Alex Lynn: “I think we’re on the right track. There were so many times last year in the WEC we were very fast and sometimes we didn’t put the results on paper. There is so much potential in this championship for this car and it’s really coming on leaps and bounds. Team JOTA has been amazing and we’ve been enjoying it, and that usually results in fat lap times as well.” Source: Cadillac Racing.
