Nürburgring NLS4: Walkenhorst second NLS win
Jakub Giermaziak and Christian Krognes with the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, win for the second time this year a Nürburgring Endurance Series race (NLS4). It is the fourth win for a BMW M4 GT3 in the first four races of the Serie.
With this victory, the Walkenhorst team move up from 6th to 2nd in the 2023 NLS Speed Trophy championship, 9 points behind the leading BMW Junior Team.
Top 4 Overall
Jakub Giermaziak and Christian Krognes with the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 took a definitive lead after the first pit stops at lap 9. They led the remaining 18 laps without any threat from other competitors.
After 9 laps, the two BMW M4 GT3s of Walkenhorst Motorsport were leading the race but not for long as the sister car driven by Neubauer / Krutten / Pereira crashed in the Schwalbenschwanz entrance area.
The premiere of Octane126 with the new Ferrari 296 GT3 #26 driven by Björn Grossmann, Jonathan Hirschi and Luca Ludwig ended with a second place, 2:04.759 minutes behind the winners. The Ferrari 296 GT3 lost a bunch of time as the tank cover had not been fitted during the last pit stop causing an additional pitstop with 20 minutes to go.
Maxime Dumarey and Mike David Ortmann celebrated the first podium finish for the #17 PROsport-Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Ortmann took the lead at the end of lap 1 and defended it until the first pit stop on lap six. The tandem kept in contention for a podium during the whole race. They also win the SP9 PRO-AM class.
Frank Stippler secured pole position in qualifying with the #5 Audi from Scherer Sport PHX but drove into the pits before the start for safety reasons after driving a foreign object into his tire. They ended fourth overall.
SP9 PRO-AM
The #25 Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Fetzer / Rader / Wehrmann / Rivas took briefly the lead as #17 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and #34 BMW M4 GT3 pitted for the first time but was gradually overtaken by 3 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the CUP2 class to finish 8th overall and second in the PRO-AM class.
American drivers Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub and Shane Lewis Shane with #45 CP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 end third of SP9 PRO-AM class.
SP9 AM
Michael Heinrich, Lorenzo Rocco and Arno Klasen with the #50 Équipe Vitesse Audi LMS GT3 EVO II were the single SP9 AM class.
