Ferrari 296 GT3 tops both GTD class

A Ferrari customer team did dominate the GTD PRO as well as the GTD qualifying sessions with the Ferrari 296 GT3.

DragonSpeed Ferrari 296 GT3 in pole of GTD PRO

Albert Costa in #81 DragonSpeed Ferrari 396 GT3 dominated GTD PRO clinching pole for tomorrow 12 Hours of Sebring with a 1:59.225.

Costa’s time was slower than that of the GTD polesitter but because of IMSA’s new race procedures, he and the rest of the GTD PRO field will start at the front of a 31-car pack of GT cars tomorrow, ahead of all the GTDs.

Laurin Heinrich, in the #77 AO Racing β€˜Rexy’ Porsche 911 GT3 R, locked second place and will start in front row with a 1:59.397.

Both Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVOs will start from GTD PRO’ second row as Niel Verhagen in #1 was third, ahead of former BMW Junior teammate Dan Harper in the #48.

Pier Guidi fastest of both GTD class

Alessandro Pier Guidi dominated the small world of GT3s by achieving the best absolute time of both classes of 1:59.131 with the #21 AF Corse Ferrari and will start on pole position of GTD class. Following IMSA’s race procedures, he will nevertheless start behind the pack of GTD PRO, ahead of all the GTDs.

Mercedes and Lexus second and third

Kenton Koch qualified second in class with #32 Korthoff Competition Motors Mercedes-AMG GT3 ahead of Jack Hawksworth in the #12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3.
