GM sports car racing program manager Laura Wontrop Klauser takes us though the Daytona takeaways and Cadillac Racing readiness for WEC starting next month in Sebring.

The race in GTD PRO was very intense with the top 3 ending within 5 sec. Matthieu Jaminet won the class with Pfaff Motorsport Porsche #9 co-driven by Matt Campbell and Felipe Nasr.

The race was very tight from start to finish as the top 4 finished within 5.615 sec., after having exchanged the lead in the closing hours and seeing all seven DPi cars on the lead during the first half of the race.

Many changes of leaders during the first half of the race with the 7 DPi’s within 5.5 sec. Currently #5 JDC Miller Motorsport Cadillac holds the lead thanks to less pits than competitors. In GTE PRO, 6 cars are within 6.6 sec.

Four time Indy car Champion Sebastien Bourdais dominated the session and was the only one to cover the lap in less than 1:35 with his #01 V-Performance Academy Cadillac.

Poor weather conditions for the Thursday sessions with a mostly wet track.

The second practice saw some dryer laps enabling the 2 WEC 2021 World Drivers Champions to perform the fastest laps with K. Kobayashi (#48 Ally Cadillac) in P1 and M. Conway (#31 Whelen Engineering Racing) in P2. 

Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, Alexander Rossi and Will Stevens will start the 60th running of the 24 hours of Daytona from pole as Taylor and Albuquerque won the Rolex qualifying 100 minutes race this Sunday.

Three manufacturers won the LMP1 and Hybrid seasons since WEC inception: Audi, Porsche and Toyota.

FIA WEC Season 9, Race 4/6: LMGTE @ 24 Hours of Le Mans 2021.

AF Corse's with the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo triumphed in the LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am classes. Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Côme Ledogar at the wheel of the #51 Ferrari won the LMGTE Pro class, while Nicklas Nielsen, François Perrodo and Alessio Rovera won the LMGTE Am class.

FIA WEC Season 9, Race 4/6: LMGTE @ 24 Hours of Le Mans Hyperpole.

Dries Vanthoor did qualify his Hub Auto Racing Porsche 911 ahead of the factory teams with 0.181 seconds advance. With his teammates E. Parente and M. Martin, he”ll start in front of the pack of LMGTE cars.

The top 6 qualified in LMGTE PRO for tonight Hyperpole session are:

#31 Whelen Engineering/Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R dominated the 67th edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring being in the lead for 249 of 348 laps but was seriously challenged by #10 Konica Minolta/Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac ending second, with the closest racing finish in Sebring’s history: 1.030 seconds.

At Sebring 12 Hours 2019, the battle in IMSA GTLM was tight, with 6 cars finishing in the same lap representing 4 different manufacturers: Porsche was the first GTLM car to hit the checkered flag, followed by Ford, Corvette and BMW.
