At the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas, the fifth race of the fourth WEC season, Porsche drivers Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley with their Porsche 919 Hybrid #17 posted their second victory of a series of 4 consecutive victoires during the 2015 season.
With this new victory after the one at Nürburgring, they were closing the gap in the Drivers' Championship with the then-leading drivers trio Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer, Marcel Fassler to 10 points. The two consecutive wins at Fuji and Shanghai will enable Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley to clinch the 2015 Drivers' Championship crown.
With their teammates Marc Lieb, Neel jani and Romain Dumas winning the last race of the season, Porsche won the 2015 World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship with a sixth consecutive victory for the German make.
Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler achieved second place with their Audi R18 e-tron quattro #7 thanks to the problems of Porsche #18 that was leading the race until 35’ from the end when they had to stay in the garage due to an electronic issue.

The Audi #7 trio were thereby marking their fifth consecutive podium finish that fourth season.

For the first time that year, di Grassi - Duval - Jarvis with their Audi R18 e-tron quattro #8 clinched a podium result ending the 6 Hours race in P3, one lap behind the winning Porsche.
Sebastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima with their #1 Toyota TS040 HYBRID were two laps down in fourth place. Like in previous races, the Japanese manufacturer couldn't challenge the Porsche and Audi.
G-Drive Racing had two cars on the LMP2 podium with R.Rusinov, Julien Canal, S.Bird ending 5h overall and 1st LMP2 with their Ligier-Nisan #26 and G.Yacaman, Pipo Derani, R.Gonzalez with ligier -Nissan #27 ending 7th overall and P3 LMP2
M. Howson, R. Bradley, N. Lapierre with KCMG ORECA-Nissan 05 #48 ended 2nd LMP2, 6th overall.
The Toyota #2 was crashed out by Mike Conway late in the third hour.
