Filipe Albuquerque with United Autosports #22 took the lead from start for the 24 first laps (except 3 by Vector #10 during pit stops in the first FCY) but was taken over by Prema #9 during the first round of pit stops.

Deletraz – Colombo – Kubica (Prema #9) kept the lead until lap 53 (except 2 by Vector #10 who was in a different pit stop strategy).

JOTA #28 led then two laps.

United Autosports #22 took the lead again at the end of the second hour for 10 laps.

The third hour saw 3 different leaders with RealTeam by WRT #31, United Autosports #22, JOTA #28, and United Autosports #22 again at the end of mid-race.

After 10 laps within the fourth hour in the lead, United Autosports #22 had to go to the garage for a throttle sensor issue that threw them down to last of class.

JOTA #28 took the lead for 3 laps, followed by Vector #10 for 2 laps, United Autosports #23 for one, and JOTA #38 for two until JOTA #28 took the lead back for the 17 last laps of the fourth hour.

The fifth hour saw different leaders again with Vector 10 and United Autosports #23 for one lap each during the two pit stops. More importantly, Inter Europol #34 took the lead for 14 laps before handing it back to JOTA #28.

The end of the fifth hour saw JOTA #38, who started from the back of the grid due to an unsafe pit release in qualifying, taking the lead for 24 laps until half hour of the sixth hour.

Thanks to a quicker pit stop from Realteam by WRT mechanics, Ferdinand Habsburg in #41 jumped #38 JOTA for the 17 last laps to clinch the first LMP2 victory for the Ferdinand Habsburg, Rui Andrade and Norman Nato squad.

Will Stevens, Antonio Felix da Costa and Roberto Gonzalez with JOTA #38 end second and extend their lead to 19-points in the LMP2 championship.

Nico Mueller, Ryan Cullen and Sebastien Bourdais in the Vector Sport team clinched the third step of the podium, their best result so far in the WEC championship.

The Inter Europol Competition #34 who was second at the entrance of the last hour of racing, dropped to fourth after the team made a longer fuel stop.

The #23 United Autosports took fourth and sits second in the Championship standings, ahead of the Prema #9 which is third in the title race and crossed the checkered flag in P6.
