IMSA Teams Testing at Daytona Day 1

33 GTP drivers have taken the wheel of their LMDh based prototypes and 3 have been driving the first LMH based Hypercar during day 1 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Sanctioned Test. The first LMH in IMSA made its first official test laps yesterday: Ross Gunn, Alex Riberas and Roman De Angelis drove the # 23 Aston Martin Valkyrie fielded by ASTON MARTIN THOR Team during 96 laps. Only GTP and LMP2 were allowed to drive two 3 hours 30’ sessions.

Tom Blomqvist fastest

Tom Blomqvist was the fastest of the day with #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06 in 1:35.905 set during the afternoon session. His teammate, Felix Rosenqvist was 16th fastest in 1:36.701. Scott Dixon and Colin Braun also driving the #60 Acura were close in 1:37.064 and 1:37.098 respectively.

Former BMW M Works driver Nick Yelloly seems to adapt well to the #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06 as he drove the 6th fastest lap of the day in 1:36.101.

#63 Lamborghini second

Andrea Caldarelli did set the fastest lap of the morning session with Iron Lynx Lamborghini SC63 in 1:35.930, 0.025 seconds slower than Blomqvist Benchmark of the day. Those two drivers were the only ones under the 1:36 mark.

Three BMW M Works drivers follow

Philipp Eng and Marco Wittmann were third and fourth of the day with #24 BMW M Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8 in 1:36.025 and 1:36.036 respectively. Philipp Eng also drove sister #25 in 1:36.042 (5th of the day).

#31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R sixth

Jack Aitken was the fastest of the Cadillac works drivers in 1:36.232 (7th in drivers combined sessions)

Several Porche 963 drivers follow

Gianmaria Bruni was the fastest of the Porsche works drivers with #85 JDC Miller Motorsports Porsche 963 setting the 10th fastest lap in 1:36.396. Kevin Estre, Julien Andlauer, Felipe Nasr, Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet follow in less that 0.500 second.
