IMSA Michelin Endurance Cups contenders

The IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup is a unique four-race competition encompassing Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and the 10 Hours at Road Atlanta.

Points are awarded at designated junctures in each of the endurance races, with five going to the class leader, four for second place, three for third and two points to all others in the class. At Motul Petit Le Mans, points are awarded at four hours, eight hours and at the finish. Therefore, a maximum of 15 points are available at Road Atlanta.

Ahead of the Michelin Raceway race, at least three cars, in each of the 5 classes, are still in contention for the cups.

Derani, Sims and Aitken have the highest number of points lead (7) whereas the gap between leader and other teams in contention for each class Cup is of maximum 3 points. Here are the current standings by class:

#04 Crowdstrike with 2 points lead in LMP2.

The #04 Crowdstrike Racing by APR leads the #52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports by two points. #11 TDS Racing (4 pts behind), #8 Tower Motorsports and #35 TDS Racing (6 pts behind), #18 ERA Motorsport (9 pts behind), #20 High Class Racing and #51 Rick Ware Racing (12 pts behind) are still in the running.

#74 Riley Ligier two points ahead in LMP3.

The #74 Riley Ligier leads both the #17 AWA Duqueine D08 and the #33 Sean Creech Motorsport Ligier by two points. Five other LMP3s (#36,#13, #38, #85, #30) have a mathematical chance at the endurance crown.

The #79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 is three points ahead of the #3 Corvette Racing Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD, five up on the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus and eight ahead of the #23 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

The #27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin is a single point ahead of the #32 Korthoff Preston Motorsports Mercedes. Nine cars are officially still eligible, including the #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW that could sweep the GTD season, IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup and Michelin Endurance Cup championships if it can recover from a four-point deficit in this category.
