24 Hours of Nürburgring Thursday practices
The first session of the 52nd ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (N24), saw degraded weather conditions with the arrival of rain 20’ before the end of the first qualifying session which was dominated by the #72 BMW M4 GT3 - BMW M Team RMG. During the 210-minute night practice, Dan Harper kept the BMW M Team RMG atop the timesheets outpacing the second fastest BMW of combined sessions by 4.183 seconds during an incident-packed session with frequent slow zones.
Dan Harper did set the fastest lap in 8'21"487 with #72 BMW M4 GT3 he shares with Charles Weerts and Max Hesse during qualifying 1. During the second qualifying practice session Harper significantly improved his previous fastest lap in 8:17.236.
Also during qualifying 2, Wittmann moved up (from sixth in Q1) to second place in the #98 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 with a best lap of 8:21.419. Note that his co-driver Raffaele Marciello crashed the #98 BMW at Wippermann but was unhurt in the accident.
The #11 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO - Schnitzelalm Racing of Marcel Marchewicz, Jay Mo Härtling and Kenneth Heyer dropped to third after being second during qualifying 1.
The # 911 - Manthey EMA “Grello” Porsche 911 GT3 R of Laurens Vanthoor - Kévin Estre - Thomas Preining - Ayhançan Güven who was in the top three during qualifying 1 drop in P4, 0,138 sec. behind the #11 Mercedes.
Dries Vanthoor got his #99 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 in fifth 0,305 sec. behind the « Grello ».
Two times winner Kelvin van der Linde, Marco Mapelli and Jordan Pepper with the #27 ABT Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 drop to sixth.
Two times winners Frédéric Vervisch and Christopher Haase who are sharing the #15 Scherer Sport PHX Audi R8 LMS GT3 with Ricardo Feller and Markus Winkelhock were fifth during qualifying 1. The fastest lap set by both ROWE Racing BMW drops them in P7.
The #5 Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Matt Campbell, Robert Renault, Vicent Kolb and Dennis Olsen was eighth of combined sessions.
