Bathurst 12 hour practices 1 to 4 results

Kelvin van der Linde aboard the #22 Wash It Team MPC Aud did set Friday’s benchmark in 2:02.7346s during the morning session (practice 1).

Friday’s schedule saw four sessions as practice for the Bathurst 12 hour race:

  • Practices 1 and 3 was open to all drivers

  • Practices 2 and 4 was reserved for Bronze drivers only.

Practice 1 fast man Kelvin van der Linde in the #22 Wash It Team MPC Audi, who set the fastest time of the day in the morning session. Van der Linde, who has never won the 12 Hour, is sharing the #22 Wash It Audi with Liam Talbot and Christopher Haase.

Both BMW M Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 were second and third of the day with Charles Weerts second in 2:03.2445 with #32 BMW he shares with Sheldon van der Linde and Dries Vanthoor.

Raffaele Marciello third in 2:03.3544 with #46 BMW he shares with Maxime Martin and Valentino Rossi. Both Team WRT were within 0.62s of van der Linde.

Luca Stolz ended the session fourth in the #75 SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG in 2:03.4664. Stolz shares the #75 Mercedes with defending three-time winner Jules Gounon and two-time defending winner Kenny Habul.

The #912 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) was fastest in Practice 3 at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, but not without a heart-in-mouth moment. Laurens Vanthoor wheeled the #912 Porsche to top spot with a 2:03.6897s set early of practice 3. He was the only one setting a lap under the 2:04’ mark during that session.

Bronze drivers practices results

Practices four saw four drivers setting a lap under the 2:06’ mark which was not reached during practice three. Both practices were reserved to Bronze drivers.

A quick lap in the closing minutes by Garth Walden has helped Mercedes-AMG end Friday on top at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour’s practice 4. Driving the Pro-Am #48 M Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3, Walden clocked a 2:05.3317s in the Bronze-only Practice 4. Walden is sharing the #48 with Glen Wood, Jack Le Brocq, and Justin McMillan at this weekend’s event.

Liam Talbot, aboard the #22 Wash It Team MPC Audi, ended up second after he fired in a 2:205.5292s on his 18th and final lap of the session. The #22 had arguably the best day of all, finishing the four practice sessions in first, first, seventh and second.

Schumacher, a fellow Bathurst local, recorded a 2:05.5848 aboard the #2 KFC Team MPC Audi.

Habul, the two-time defending Bathurst 12 Hour winner, ended fourth of practice 4 (and Bronze drivers only combined sessions) with the #75 SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG. 

Bathurst 12 Hour action will resume on Saturday with Practice 5, for all drivers, at 8:05am AEDT (Friday 10:05pm CET, 4:05pm EST).

Practice 6 is set at 10am AEDT (Friday 12:00am CET, 6pm EST) and qualifying at 12:40 am AEDT (Saturday 02:40am CET, Friday 8:40pm EST)

The Top 10 Shootout will start at 4:05pm AEDT (Saturday 06:05am CET, Friday 12:05am EST). Source: Repco Bathurst 12 Hour
