IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup ahead Road Atlanta

The IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup is still very open with several contenders in each class. With 5 points earned at the four-, eight-and 10-hour marks of the race the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup (IMEC) is much more open than IMSA SportsCar Championship ahead Road Atlanta.

GTP class

In the team standings, Porsche Penske Motorsport’s #7 crew occupies the top spot with 37 pts as well as its factory drivers Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr. They have a 4 points lead which is not enough, considering 15 points are at play at Road Atlanta, to have a clear advantage going to Road Atlanta. If, for example, #01 Cadillac is first at the four hour mark and #7 Porsche sixth, #01 Cadillac would be first of the cup one point ahead the #7 which is a highly possible scenario considering the number of GTP cars who could be in the top 5.

Dane Cameron (Porsche 963 #7): β€œPetit Le Mans will be a massive challenge with so many cars racing on a relatively small, high-speed circuit like Road Atlanta. But we’ve put ourselves in a good position to win the drivers’ and manufacturers’ titles. Now we need one more strong performance to bring home the trophies.” Source: Porsche

The two Cadillac teams are following with #01 Cadillac Racing second (33 pts) and #31 Whelen Cadillac Racing third (32 pts). Both #25 BMW M Team RLL and #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport follow with 30 points.

Nick Tandy (Porsche 963 #6): β€œRoad Atlanta is a beautiful track, and Petit Le Mans is a special event, even if it wasn’t particularly our strongest circuit last year. That’s why we’ve invested a lot of work including tests in Mooresville and Weissach to perfectly prepare the Porsche 963 and the team for this.” Source: Porsche

LMP2 class

In LMP2, #11 TDS Racing and #52 Inter Europol by PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports lead with 35 pts each. #18 Era Motorsport follow with 33 pts.
