LMP2 from Indianapolis in IMSA to Mugello in ELMS

Four of the Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway contenders will participate to the 4 hours of Mugello this weekend, penultimate round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).

Battle on the Bricks winner TDS Racing

#11 TDS Racing driven by Steven Thomas, Mikkel Jensen and Hunter McElrea won the LMP2 class at the Battle of the Bricks last weekend. The victory enables them to co-lead the Michelin Endurance Cup with #52 Inter Europol Competition trio.

Still yellow color but different sponsor and lineup with Rodrigo Sales, Mathias Beche and Grégoire Saucy sharing the #29 Richard Mille by TDS in the LMP2 PRO-AM class of the ELMS championship. The trio is currently third in the LMP2 PRO-AM championship, 21 points behind the leading AF Corse team.

Inter Europol Competition

Second at Indianapolis with the #52 Inter Europol by PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports trio of Tom Dillmann, Kuba Smiechowski and Nick Boulle, they are now tied for the class lead in the Michelin Endurance Cup with the TDS Racing’s Mikkel Jensen, Hunter McElrea and Steven Thomas.

In ELMS, Tom Dillmann will co-drive the #43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca with Sebastian Alavarez and S Vladislav Lomko at the 4 Hours of Mugello. They are currently second in the championship, two points behind AO by TF.

AF Corse

#88 Richard Mille AF Corse Oreca driven by D. Murry, N. Nielsen and L. Perez Companc had quite an anonymous race at Indianapolis starting sixth on the LMP2 grid ending in the same position (6th)

AF Corse is going to Mugello as a clear leader of the ELMS LMP2 PRO/AM class after two wins (at Barcelona and Spa-Francorchamps), a P2 at Monza and a P4 at Le Castellet. Alessio Rovera, François Perrodo and Mathieu Vaxivière are dominating the Drivers standings, 20 points ahead the trio Quinn/Lentoudis/Bradley. So does their team with #83 AF Corse Oreca.

United Autosports USA

Bijoy Garg and Paul Di Resta co-drive the #22 United Autorports USA with Daniel Goldburg. At the Battle on the Bricks, Le Mans winner Bijoy Garg was running in the top three through the second and third hours. A pitlane dive briefly dropped the crew one lap down before a strategic call saw them regain the lap and, with the help of a Safety Car restart, take the lead of the race with 40 minutes to go. Contact with a battling LMP2 sent Di Resta into the pits for a new nose and tyres, losing the lead was already and crossing checkered flag in P7.

In ELMS, B. Garg and P. Di Resta share the #23 with F. Scherer. With no podium so far, they are currently 11th in the championship, looking for their first podium result at Mugello.
