ELMS Test day at Spa-Francorchamps
The 2023 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) enters the second half of the six race 2023 season with the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps next Sunday 24 September. The 41 cars in the entry list of championshipβs round 4 were participating to the test day this Wednesday during 290β.
Nelson Piquet Jr was the fastest (2:05.923) (with #21 Pro/Am United Autopsorts ORECA he shares with Andy Meyrick and Daniel Schneider) of 41 cars that took part to both sessions today at Spa-Francorchamps for the test-day of the fourth round of the 2023 European Le Mans Series season. Piquet was the only driver to set a sub 2 minutes 6 seconds time all day.
LMP2 class
Six championships are at play between LMP2 teams and drivers: LMP2 and LMP2 PRO-AM as well as combined overall as Oreca cars in both series are identical; just the drivers lineup is different with at least a so called AM driver in the LMP2 PRO-AM class.
Piquet was the only driver of a LMP2 PRO-AM car ahead of four LMP2 teams that are leading the LMP2 class championships:
Oliver JARVIS did set the Benchmark of the afternoon session with #22 United Autosports USA Oreca ahead of his team mate Marino SATO. Philip HANSON, the third driver of the #22 team was sixth of the day.
RenΓ© Binder was fourth 0.263 seconds slower with #30 Duqueine Team Oreca he shares with N. PINO and N. JANI. The #30 team is third in the overall Championships (teams and drivers).
Paul Loup CHATIN was fifth fastest (+0.291β) in #28 IDEC Sport Oreca. Together with P. LAFARGUE and L. HΓRR, they are fourth in the overall championships
Current leaders of the overall championships were seventh fastest of the day thanks to Alex Lynn (+0.489) in the #25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca he shares with K. SIMPSON and J. ALLEN. Lynn will fly to the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari where he will test the Cadillac V-Series.R he shares with Earl Bamber and Richard Westbrook in the WEC.
LMP3 class
Oscar Tunjo in the #12 WTM by Rinaldi Racing Duqueine M30 did set the quickest lap (2:12.917) in LMP3.
LMGTE class
The LM GTE class was topped by Matteo Cairoli with a 2:18.134 in the #60 Iron Lynx Porsche. Cairoli was the fastest GTE driver in both sessions, with his best lap coming during the morning.
