During ROAR qualification session for the Rolex 24 starting grid, only 0.231 sec. separated the top 4 performers representing 3 manufacturers out of the 4 in the entry list with #60 Meyer Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura ARX-06 in 1:34.031 and #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-LMDh fourth in 1:34.262.
The battle between Acura and Porsche for the pole of Rolex 24 was even tighter as only 0.083 sec. separate #60 Meyer Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura ARX-06 and #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963.
The 2 BMW M Hybrid-V8 will start from fourth row of Rolex 24 setting a best time within 0.815 sec. of #60 Meyer Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura ARX-06.
GTD (and GTD PRO) qualifications within 2.859 sec.
The Mercedes AMG GT3 dominated the qualification session by trusting the 2 front rows of the GTD starting grid of Rolex 24 with #57 Winward Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT3 setting fastest lap in 1.46:093.
The fastest Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) (#16 Wright Motorsports) set the German manufacturer’s best lap in 1.48:942. That means a gap of almost 3 sec. between the Mercedes AMG GT3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)! All other 7 Porsches were slower than the #16 sister!
The 7 other manufacturers having at least one car represented in the top 17 are within 2.412 sec. of the fastest Mercedes AMG GT3. The 17th being BMW M4 GT3 #95 in 1.48:505.
No significant BoP changes
Tuesday, the Rolex 24 BoP tables released by IMSA had no significant changes to the Balance of Performance for the Rolex 24 at Daytona except a two-liter increase in fuel capacity for the BMW M4 GT3, moving from 97 to 99 liters.
