IMSA 2022 Motul Petit Le Mans Qualifications
Hurricane Ian went off to the east coast. Contrary to pessimistic weather forecast, the qualification sessions could start on a dry track but cloudy sky with a temperature around 75° F.
DPi
The qualification ranking in DPi class was already set in the fourth lap with Tom Blomqvist first, Earl Bamber second and Ricky Taylor third. Both Jarvis and Taylor improved their performance during lap 5 and 6 without any impact on the ranking.
O. Jarvis, T. Blomqvist and H. Castronoves will start from pole with #60 Meyer Shank Racing W/Curb-Agajan Acura. At the press conference, Blomqvist said he had a good feeling from the start of the session and wanted to get the pole because it is easier to be in front even though it is a 10 hours race and there’ll be a lot of yellow flags or safety cars.
E. Bamber, A. Lynn and R. Hunter-Reay will start from first row.
Filipe Albuqueqrque, Ricky Taylor and B. Hartley with #10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 will start from second row.
There is a gap of 0.520 seconds between the 7 DPi
LMP2
The session was driven by the bronze drivers of each class entries. S. Thomas was the fastest with #11 Oreca by PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports.
LMP3
K. Van Berlo with #74 Riley Motorsport Ligier was the fastest of the session.
GTD
In GTD PRO, Jack Hawksworth confirmed the velocity of his #14 Lexus RC F GT3 during the free practices by gaining the pole of class.
